The Challenge
To create a small browser-based game from scratch — both as a standalone digital experience and as an experiment in what can be built directly for the browser, without a traditional game engine underneath it.
The Decisions
The idea goes back to my first game, written on a 16-bit ZX Spectrum with 48K of RAM — a machine where every byte counted, and where a "tunnel" game was about the most impressive thing you could squeeze out of the hardware. Cosmic Tunnel isn't a re-release, it's a reinterpretation: the same core feeling of speed and a narrow space, built with the Canvas API and Phaser instead of assembly, and shipped as an ordinary web page instead of a cassette tape. That means no install and no emulator — the game works the moment the page loads, just as well on a phone as on a computer.
What Was Built
A complete, interactive browser game with its own graphics, animations, sound and gameplay mechanics. The entire experience was built from scratch and brought together in a single solution that can be opened directly in a browser without installation.
Result
A finished game, live at game.larssohl.dk and playable directly on the web. A small project, but also a good example of KodeKid's approach: idea, design, development and launch brought together in one place.
