Klokly — time tracking, reinvented through simplicity

A lightweight time-tracking app built to make it natural to keep track of where the time goes. Instead of heavy project-management tooling, Klokly does one thing: a clock experience that feels fast and present.

Track time, not people

The problem

Most time trackers are project-management suites with a timer bolted on afterwards. The timer is the part people actually open every day — the rest of the tool rarely gets used for anything beyond justifying the price. The goal was to build the opposite: a product where the timer is the whole product, not one tab among ten.

The decisions

Real-time wasn't a nice-to-have, it was the premise: a team has to see each other's status without refreshing the page, or "team overview" is just a phrase in marketing copy. Supabase was chosen because database, authentication and realtime sync are one system instead of three separate services one person has to keep in sync. Stripe handles subscriptions and seats, so billing logic isn't bolted on beside the product — it's part of the account structure from day one.

What was built

Start and stop timing on tasks, see live status across the team, and manage seats as the team grows or shrinks. Data is hosted in the EU, and reports export cleanly for accounting or invoicing — not a screenshot of a dashboard, but a document that can actually be used. Accounts, authentication, payment and a marketing site are part of the product rather than bolted on afterwards.
